About the Opportunity
DarkLens is an AI-powered cyber threat intelligence platform that discovers onion services, monitors hidden activity, identifies digital exposure, and helps security teams investigate emerging threats.
We are looking for a curious, detail-oriented junior intern to support our threat intelligence research, data validation, and platform quality assurance activities. This is an opportunity to gain practical experience in cyber threat intelligence, OSINT, dark web research, and security product testing while contributing to a growing cybersecurity product. International students are also encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- 1. Cyber Threat Intelligence Research
- Monitor publicly accessible cyber threat intelligence sources, security blogs, advisories, forums, and relevant dark web sources.
- Research emerging threats, ransomware activity, phishing campaigns, online scams, data exposure claims, and suspicious infrastructure.
- Discover and document relevant onion services and other indicators of potential malicious activity using approved tools and procedures.
- Collect, organize, and enrich indicators of compromise (IOCs), including domains, IP addresses, URLs, file hashes, and cryptocurrency wallet addresses where relevant.
- Assess source reliability, validate findings, distinguish confirmed facts from unverified claims, and assign appropriate confidence levels.
- Prepare concise intelligence briefs, research notes, and weekly threat summaries.
- 2. DarkLens Platform Testing and Quality Assurance
- Test the platform's core features, including account registration, dashboards, asset management, monitoring rules, discovery, alerts, investigations, and reporting.
- Develop and execute repeatable test cases and maintain a testing checklist.
- Verify that monitoring rules trigger the expected alerts when relevant test data is discovered.
- Identify and document bugs, false positives, missing data, duplicate alerts, incorrect classifications, and unexpected behavior.
- Record reproducible steps, expected versus actual results, screenshots where appropriate, and severity.
- Retest reported issues after fixes and help maintain regression tests.
- Evaluate the quality of AI-generated summaries, titles, classifications, and risk assessments.
- 3. Intelligence Data Quality and Documentation
- Review collected intelligence for completeness, duplication, consistency, and relevance.
- Maintain structured research records, source references, timestamps, and investigation notes.
- Help document standard operating procedures for research, validation, and testing.
- Suggest practical improvements to the platform based on observed issues and research findings.
- 4. Product and Beta Testing Support
- Help test new features before release.
- Assist with organizing feedback from beta users.
- Reproduce user-reported issues and categorize them for review.
- Help prepare sanitized demonstrations, sample datasets, and product documentation.
